Pokhara, Nepal
After the Annapurna Circuit (blogs found HERE) I made my way to Pokhara. It's the natural next step after the circuit because it's a city on the way back to Kathmandu. Plus, it's nicer than Kathmandu, at least at Lakeside where I stayed. Lakeside is where most tourists stay and the road following the lake is full of shops and restaurants. I spent 3 days here relaxing after my trek. I didn't partake in any of the typical tourist activities like paddling around on the lake, hiking to the world peace pagoda, or paragliding over the lake. I just wanted to chill after hiking everyday for 2 weeks. So I walked around checking out the shops and eating out. It was a calmer scene than busy Kathmandu.

I couldn't stay in Pokhara forever so I took the 8hr+ bus back to Kathmandu. I just spent one full day there before flying out to Malaysia. All I wanted to check out was the Rum Doodle Bar. I had read an NPR article about it when I first arrived in Nepal and kept it in mind to visit when I returned. It's famous for all the autographs of Everest summiteers on the walls and on foot-shaped signs hanging from the ceiling. I hunted for and found Edmund Hillary's signature from 1953 when he along with Tenzing Norgay were the first to reach the top. I was inspired to be surrounded by the names of explorers and adventurers who climbed the world's highest mountain, and I'm not gonna lie, it made me want to be in on the party.
