Katmai National Park, Alaska
Last week we (Simyra, Brad, Bekah, Wes, and me) flew 120 miles out to Katmai to scout out the camp and to make sure nothing was damaged or stolen. It was a beautiful, clear, sunny day and when we landed on the beach in front of camp it was warm. We slowly scanned the area for tracks and made our way up to camp.
After checking out camp we walked down the beach looking for debris, specifically glass floats. Instead we came across large buoys from Japan.
Then we flew South along the coast. We passed numerous bays including Kukak Bay, Geographic Harbor, Dakavak Bay, and Katmai Bay. The landscapes were incredible. It is the furthest I have been in the park. We even saw a steaming volcano!
Tomorrow I'll write about my amazing day across the bay!
