Great Sand Dunes National Park, Colorao
I left Taos and headed North. I ended up in Great Sand Dunes National Park. The tallest dunes in North America are situated under the Sangre de Cristo mountains. Water and wind moves the sand to create the tall dunes.
I camped in the dunefield the first night. I was told to be careful of lightning, and the information given tells to leave the dunes if possible when lightning threatens. I had to move my tent from the first location at 9PM because the wind was too strong and knocked my tent over. So I hiked lower in the dark and put my tent back up on a not-so-flat spot. And then it thundered and lightninged. I couldn't leave the dunes because I couldn't see anything. So I waited it out and the storm passed, thankfully.

Wednesday I hung out by the creek and watched people sled down the dunes. I camped at Buck Creek that night.
