Bryce Canyon National Park, Utah

After Capitol Reef NP I headed to Bryce Canyon NP nearby. The area and entrance reminded me of the Grand Canyon where a small town leads you to the forest right before the entrance of the park. I arrived later in the day so I went to Sunset Point and got to see the magical hoodoos as the sun was setting. [Hoodoos are tall spires of rocks.] After figuring out my game plan for the next day I drove out of the park to find another free campsite to stay at.

The next day I got to the park at sunrise so I got to see the hoodoos once more in gorgeous light. I started down Navajo Loop trail and made my way below the canyon rim becoming face to face with the hoodoos. When I got to the bottom of the canyon I went towards Queen's Garden and then back up to the rim. My camera battery died so I decided while I charged the battery I could do some laundry. Afterwards I drove the scenic road to where the road ends at Rainbow point. The most spectacular viewpoint was Bryce Point. I even got to see the headwaters of the Paria River, which was interesting since I got caught in that flash flood in Paria Canyon earlier this summer.

Bryce Canyon is one of my favorite national parks. The hoodoos make it magical. I wish I had more time to hike all along the rim trail and under the rim trail...next time!
