Seldovia, Alaska
This past week marked the one month mark of time remaining here in Homer. I've been taking every advantage to check things off my Homer/Alaska "To-Do List." Yesterday I got to check another off my list- a trip to Seldovia.
Seldovia is a small town of less than 300 residents which is nestled in a cove across Kachemak Bay. The town is only accessible by boat or plane as there is no connection to the highway system there.
The boat departed the Homer Harbor at 10:30 and the first stop on the tour was Gull Island, home of tens of thousands of seabirds. I had been there for the first time a couple weeks ago. I had always wanted to go because of the puffins that live there.
After the tour around Gull Island and two hours later, we docked in Seldovia. I took my bike with me so I would be able to see as much of the town as possible within the three hours we had there before the boat left.
I took a dirt road to the beach and put my feet in the cold water for a break. Then I went back through the town and checked out the historic boardwalk area and then sat down for a lunch. By 4, I had seen the whole town and took the boat back to Homer. It was a nice sunny day so I sat on the bow deck for the ride back.
What's next?!
